The writers and producers from the hit CW show Supernatural will be working on the Amazon Prime Video original show The Boys.
According to an exclusive report by Variety, Meredith Glynn, David Reed, and Jim Michaels will be joining showrunner Eric Kripke for the show’s third season. Kripke also created Supernatural, which ran from 2005 to 2020. The 15th and final season concluded in November 2020.
The report stated that Glynn, who worked as an executive producer on Supernatural, will be also be serving in the same role for The Boys. Michaels will be the co-executive producer of the superhero series. He was the producer and co-executive producer on Supernatural between 2009-2020.
Supernatural’s writer and script coordinator David Reed will also serve as an executive producer.
The Boys, a series that delves into a world where superheroes have unlimited power and are controlled by giant corporations, is known for having many Supernatural alums.
Actor Jensen Ackles, who is best known for his role as Dean Winchester on the long-running show will be joining the cast of The Boys for the third season. He will be essaying the role of Soldier Boy.
“Fellow “Supernatural” alums Phil Sgriccia and Christopher Lennertz have been with “The Boys” since Season 1,” Variety reported.
The Boys has a spin-off series that is in development.
Showrunner Kripke recently tweeted posters of an in-show feature film called Dawn of the Seven. According to the Collider, “Filming for the movie was a key storyline in The Boys season 2, with a conflict between Homelander (Antony Starr) and Starlight (Erin Moriarty) brewing in between takes. The fact that these movie posters will be featured in Season 3 teases the possibility that the Dawn of the Seven premiere will likely figure into the new story.”
The Boys stars Karl Urban, Antony Starr, Jack Quaid, and Erin Moriarty in lead roles. The first two seasons are available on Amazon Prime Video.
