Varalaxmi Sarathkumar Starrer ‘Danny’ To Premiere Directly On Zee5 Soon

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar‘s upcoming film Danny will hit OTT platform, Zee5, directly bypassing a theatrical release. The film helmed by Santhanamoorthy has been bankrolled by PG Muthiah and M Deepa for PG Media Works. Danny is the second film headlined by Varalaxmi after her Velvet Nagaram.

The film centered on the woman protagonist, will see Varalaxmi playing the role of Kunthavai, donning the cop uniform, and investigating a murder along with her dog ‘Danny’.

The film also features Vela Ramamoorthy, Saravanan Sakthi, Sayaji Shinde, Kawin, Vinoth Kishan, Durai Sudhakar, Bala, Ramar, and Anitha Sampath in pivotal roles. Santhosh Dayanidhi has composed music, cinematography is by Aanand Kumar, editing by S N Fazil and art by Dinesh.

The film’s first look posters were released last year in March on the occasion of th lead actor’s birthday. In December 2019, the second look poster and teaser dropped.

The film was supposed to hit screens in the summer of 2019 but was then postponed to the beginning of 2020. Due to the lockdown, it will now be available on the streaming platform directly. The date of release is yet to be announced.

Varalaxmi also has a host of films in various stages of production in the pipeline. She will next feature in Kannada in V Samudra’s Ranam, in Tamil in Deekay‘s Kaatteri, Veerakumar’s Chasing, Muthukumaran‘s Kanni Raasi, and Om Vijay’s Piranthaal Parasakthi, and in Telugu in Gopichand Malineni‘s Krack, and Vijay Kanakamedala’s Naandhi.

Her previous film Velvet Nagaram helmed by debutant Manoj Kumar Natarajan received mixed reviews from critics. It dealt with the struggles Varalaxmi’s character faces after she begins to investigate a forest fire in the hills near Kodaikanal.

Varalaxmi has also been helping migrant workers, trans persons, and women struggling because of the Corona crisis through her Save Sakthi Foundation over the last few months. She also started an initiative ‘Voice For The Voiceless’ to protect stray animals.
