Actress Keerthy Suresh, who is playing the titular character of the yesteryear Telugu actress Savitri, on Friday said that it took hours of makeup to get the look of the legendary iconic actress right. She was addressing the media at a press conference in Chennai.
Talking about the bilingual movie Mahanati, releasing as Nadigaiyar Thilagam in Tamil, Keerthy Suresh was all praise for director Nag Ashwin and cinematographer Dani Sanchez Lopez. She went on to explain the techniques used by the Spanish cinematographer which helped her bring to life the late South Indian actress.
Two songs from the film were also unveiled as the press meet. Producer Ashwini Dutt, lyricist and dialogue writer Madhan Karky were also present.

Ashwini Dutt is producing the movie under the banner of Vyjayanti Movies and the film is directed by Yevade Subramanyam fame director, Nag Ashwin. Ashwini Dutt said that a considerable amount of thought has gone into creating a narrative so that the younger generation can relate to the subject – the story of a female superstar.
Karkky, who wrote the lyrics and dialogues for the Tamil version, said that he’s never been this emotionally happy with the creative process as it so artistically and aesthetically satisfying. He added that Keerthy Suresh will surprise everyone with her performance in the biopic.
The film releasing in Tamil and Telugu, will see actors Dulqueer Salman, Vijay Devarakonda and Samantha in other major roles. The film’s audio launch will be held in Chennai on May 3 and will release on May 9.
