“Amma’s life will be showcased on the screen by unique director and my friend, Lingusamy. In this, Natarajan and Chinnamma’s characters will be given a lot of importance. The director will meet Tamil political leaders and verify the authenticity of various incidents in Amma’s life. This film will be based on hard proof,” he wrote.

Jeyanandh’s spokesperson says that Lingusamy’s version of the biopic will focus more on Sasikala and Natarajan’s contributions to late Jayalalithaa’s career. “Biopic will dwell on her rise to be the CM but it will also focus on the close relationship she shared with Sasikala and Natarajan. They were very instrumental in her political achievements and this must be documented.”

Jeyanandh is the nephew of Sasikala, a close associate of Jayalalitha. The film produced by Jeyanandh will be told from her perspective, a spokesperson said.

Lingusamy will do extensive research on the biopic and Jeyanandh will facilitate this by arranging meetings with top AIADMK functionaries and associates of the late CM, the spokesperson added.

The project will likely be launched on February 24, on the occasion of Jayalalithaa’s birthday.

Already, three other biopics on Jayalalitha have been announced. Vishnu Induri will bankroll a film on Jayalalitha to be directed by Vijay while Aadithya Bhardwaj has signed on to finance Bharathiraja’s movie on the late actor turned politician.

Priyadarshani has announced The Iron Lady starring Nithya Menon as Jayalalitha. The film will likely be the first among the four announced biopics to release.
