News is, Vijay 61 is official ly on, with the number three being of particular importance. Actresses Jyothika, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Kajal Aggarwal will be teaming up with actor Vijay in this film to be directed by Atlee. AR Rahman has also been roped in for music, with Sri Thenandal Films producing it. The shooting begins tomorrow in Chennai.
An official press release confirmed the film, its cast and crew. The project will also have actor Sathyaraj and comedians Sathyan and Vadivelu among others. SJ Suryah has been roped in to play the antagonist in the film.
This film marks the third time each of the actresses would be working with Vijay. Jyothika and Vijay had earlier acted in Kushi (2000) and Thirumalai (2003) together. Samantha and Vijay had earlier acted in Kaththi ( 2014) and Theri (2016). Kajal and Vijay acted in Thuppakki (2012) and Jilla (2014).

Incidentally, the film also marks AR Rahman and Vijay’s third collaboration, having previously worked in Udhaya (2004) and Azhagiya Tamil Magan (2007). The film also marks the second collaboration between Atlee and Vijay, who previously worked together in Theri.
Other details from the PR. Crew includes editor Ruben, while debutant cinematographer GK Vishnu will be handling the camera. Apart from Chennai, the film’s shooting will also take place in north India, Europe and North America.
