Udhayanidhi Stalin Appeals To Supreme Court On Tax Exemption Issue

Recommended

Actor-producer Udhayanidhi Stalin has filed an appeal with the Supreme Court after the Madras High Court dismissed his petition for entertainment tax exemptions. Movies distributed by Stalin’s ‘Red Giant Movies’ have not been given tax exemptions by the Government of Tamil Nadu. According to a Vikatan report, the Tamil Nadu Government has stated in a reply petition that it would take four to five weeks to conclusively explain their stand on the tax exemption case.

On July 1, the Supreme Court had ordered that a decision on a movie’s tax exemption status should be taken within 30 days of watching the film. Further, the censor board should submit an optimal time-frame indicating the duration of screening and assessing the films.

Udhayanidhi Stalin is currently shooting for Gethu.
