Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Gethu Gets Tax Exemption

Actor and producer Udhayanidhi Stalin’s recently released Gethu has qualified for tax exemption. The censor board officials had denied the film an exemption certificate, after stating that ‘Gethu’ wasn’t a Tamil word. Udhayanidhi Stalin subsequently filed a case arguing that ‘Gethu’ was a proper Tamil word, and could be found in every Tamil dictionary. The Chennai High Court subsequently ruled in his favour:

Thus far, Udhayanidhi’s films had been denied tax exemptions for various political reasons. A case over his last film, Nanbennda, is still pending. Gethu will be Udhayanidhi’s first tax-exempt film. Recently, when actor Siddharth announced that wouldn’t apply for a tax exemption for his film Jil Jung Juk, Udhayanidhi had ridiculed the censor board members.
