Bangalore Naatkal Trailer & Review

The trailer of Bangalore Naatkal, the Tamil official remake of Bangalore Days, is out. The remake is directed by Bhaskar, who helmed Telugu hits like Bomarillu and Parugu. A multi-starrer set in Bangalore, the film has Arya, Rana Daggubati, Bobby Simha, Sridivya, Parvathy and Samantha Ruth Prabhu playing the lead roles. Gopi Sunder, who scored tunes for the original version, is a part of the remake, and KV Guhan has handled the camera.

The trailer of the Tamil remake is more or less a rehash of the Bangalore Days trailer. Right from the background score to the montage, everything invokes déjà vu. There were hints from the beginning that the makers of the remake wouldn’t sway away from the original, which was a blockbuster across south India. The working title of the remake, Arjun, Divya Matrum Karthik, was changed to Bangalore Naatkal, the Tamil translation of Bangalore Days, sometime before the release of the first-look. The widely popular wedding song from the original, Mangalyam Thanthunanena, has been retained in the remake (with Tamil lyrics) too. Bobby Simha, Arya and Sridivya play cousins in the Tamil remake, replicating the roles played by Nivin Pauly, Dulquer Salman and Nazriya Nazim respectively in the original. However, the chemistry between the actors in the Tamil version isn’t as hot as it was in the Malayalam film. For a person who has watched and adored the original, Bangalore Days, the Tamil trailer offers no pleasant surprise.

Bangalore Days, written and directed by Anjali Menon, was the highest grossing Malayalam film in 2013. Nazriya Nazim and Nivin Pauly had won state film awards for their performance in the movie.
