The trailer of Sudha Kongara Prasad’s Irudhi Sutru, starring Madhavan and Ritika Singh, has every necessary ingredient to keep an audience on the edge. The film has been on floors for a couple of years, and the result is well worth the wait. Madhavan’s super beefed-up, rugged look is definitely a head-turner.
The film, which releases on January 29, tells the story of a rustic girl from a fishing community, who beats the odds to become a true champion in every sense, with the help of a coach, played by R Madhavan. Produced by UTV Motion Pictures, this film has been simultaneously made in Tamil and Hindi (Saala Khadoos).
Irudhi Sutru’s trailer wastes little time in introducing Madhavan’s character – a black sheep at the boxing academy. He’s called a philanderer, and a little later, Nasser’s character (a drunkard), calls him a rogue. MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighter Ritika Singh plays her part perfectly. Her powerful performance as the boxing champion has already garnered a lot of fans. The film’s producer Rajkumar Hirani recently said, “We have received immense appreciation for Ritika since the trailer launch. She has already gathered a fan following. I wish her all the luck and best wishes on [this] special day.” Irudhi Suttru, unlike Chak De, India! and similarly-themed movies, doesn’t shy away from portraying a blossoming relationship between the teacher and his student.
