Pandiraj’s Kathakali stars Vishal and Catherine Tresa. The director has had a tough time with the release of Idhu Namma Aalu, but continued working on his other two films, Pasanga 2 and Kathakali. The trailer of Kathakali has now released, and looks sleek. Showcasing Vishal in a fight for his family, the Kathakali trailer bears a strong resemblance to Suseenthiran’s Pandiya Naadu and Naan Mahaan Alla.
There’s romance, as well as goon-punching action. Oddly enough, there’s also Vishal taking a selfie with one of the villains, while blood drips down the villain’s face. Hip Hop Thamizha’s Adhi music and BGM work their magic throughout the trailer. The theme song as well as the ‘Erangi Vandhu’ song are easily the best songs in the album.
Vishal’s previous film, Paayum Puli with Kajal Aggarwal did middling business at the box-office. From the way Kathakali‘s trailer shapes up, it looks like he might bounce back with this film.
Towards the end of the trailer, the word ‘Police’ appears in a mirror image, indicating that the film might be yet another cop-thriller? We’ll have to wait till Pongal to find out.
