Today is poet and lyricist Na Muthukumar’s birth anniversary. Our song of the day is ‘Aanandha Yaazhai’ from director Ram’s Thangameenkal, one of the most loved Na Muthukumar songs, set to music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. It is picturised on the hills of Achankoil and is about a father and daughter, played by Ram and Sadhana.
Na Muthukumar won his first National Award for this song, and in 2013, the year this film released, he wrote the lyrics for 103 songs in 36 films. He regularly collaborated with Yuvan and GV Prakash, and has given us memorable songs such as ‘Oru Naalil’, ‘Paravaye Engu Irukkiraai’, ‘Azhage Azhage’ and ‘Dheivangal Ellam’.
