This is a superhit song from the 1971 film Shrimantudu, (Wealthy Man) starring Nageswara Rao and Jamuna. The story flows by on familiar lines. The son and heir of a rich man is controlled by his cunning relatives, and is more or less rendered an alcoholic. All because, the relatives eye the money and property. At this point, the young heroine comes to the rescue of the man, slowly cures him of his alcohol dependence, helps him right the wrongs and recover his property. We have seen variations of this story in many films, across languages, including K Bhagyaraj’s Enga Chinna Raasa, and its Hindi remake Beta, starring Anil Kapoor and Madhuri.
