Happy birthday, Pooja! Our song of the day is ‘Mazhai Mazhai’ from Ullam Ketkume (2005), starring Shaam, Arya, Pooja, Asin and Laila as students who reunite for Arya’s wedding. Though Shaam, Asin and Laila’s love triangle was central to the film, Arya and Pooja were a loved pair and they also went on to work on many movies together. The film is written and directed by Jeeva. Pooja has a lively presence in this song, and it is considered one of Harris Jayaraj’s best compositions.
The film was meant to be Pooja’s debut, but it faced delays and Jay Jay and Attahasam released before it. Pooja later acted in Naan Kadavul, Oram Po, Anjalika and also short films, Malayalam feature films and other Sinhalese films. She has a huge fan-following in Sri Lanka.
