Over a century-and-a-half ago, on August 3, 1858, John Hanning Speke discovered the source of the Nile. Sometime in 1999 or 2000, lyricist Pa Vijay wrote this song, picturised on Prabhudeva and Kausalya.

The film Vaanathaippola, directed by Vikraman who is known for his family dramas, is saccharine sweet, and won the National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. The film is about four brothers and how they stay united despite the best efforts of the antagonists. It stars Vijaykanth in dual roles, Livingston, Prabhudeva, Meena, Anju Aravind, Kausalya and Vineetha, among others.

The song ‘Nadhiye’ is set to tune by SA Rajkumar and rendered by Sukhvinder Singh and Anuradha Sriram. The lyrics go thus: “Nadhiye Adi Nile Nadhiye, Nanainthaen Un Azhaginile; Un Sirippai Serthu Serthu, Malar Kaatchi Ondru Vaithaen. [Oh River Nile, I’m drenched in your beauty; I gathered your beauty and set up a flower show!]”
