Our song of the day is this classic Ilaiyaraaja composition featuring the runaway lovers Vijayakanth and Radhika. Vijayakanth as Anthony takes care of his pregnant wife Sivagami as she goes about her household work, and they walk in the fields and by the sunset while he sings that he is thankful for her. The lyrics compares their love and the birth of their child to that of a pearl that is formed inside a shell.

This song is from the 1988 film Poonthotta Kaavalkaaran, directed by Senthilnathan. This was his debut film with his friend Vijayakanth, and it turned out to be a blockbuster. It was also remade in Sinhala as Ran Hadawatha, and in Telugu as Dharma Teja.
