From this classic AR Rahman album, a Naresh Iyer special song on his birthday. ‘Valayapatti Thavile’ was Naresh Iyer’s only song in the Azhagiya Tamil Magan album. This was one of Vijay’s most entertaining albums composed by AR Rahman – with ‘Maduraikku Pogathadee’, ‘Ellappugazhum’, and ‘Ponmagal Vandaal’. They were sung by AR Rahman and his troupe, Benny Dayal, Ujjayinee Roy, Archith, Darshana KT.

‘Valayapatti Thavile’ begins and ends with a shot of Shriya’s hips, and so Vijay’s dance and expressions are all over the place. But if not for the sexual overtones, he reminds one of Prabhu Deva from ‘Strawberry Kanne’. It’s a catchy song and you want to keep playing it on loop.

The lyrics by Na Muthukumar is quite progressive unlike the visuals. It praises Shriya’s beauty, and Naresh Iyer sings this in his classic style with pep. This one, Kummi Adi from Sillnu Oru Kadhal, Kadhal Suthudhey from Saravana, were Naresh Iyer’s most popular songs that we danced to in the 2000s. An alternative idea to enjoy the song is to watch all the YouTube school and college dance videos to this song.
