‘Oh My Kadavule’ Starring Ashok Selvan, Ritika Singh, And Vani Bhojan Selected For The International Indian Film Festival Toronto 2020

On Monday, the IIFFT (International Indian Film Festival Toronto) board announced the list of films that would be premiering at the 8th edition of their annual festival to be held virtually from Aug 9-15, 2020. The list comprised six films – an Indo-American short Padmavyuha and the recent popular Indian docu-film Batch of 2020 – Beyond Degrees & Certificates along with Karthi starrer Kaithi (Tamil), Nani starrer Jersey (Telugu), Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30 (Hindi) and Fahad Faasil starrer Trance (Malayalam).

The recent addition to the list is the 2019 hit rom-com Oh My Kadavule starring Ashok Selvan, Ritika Singh, and Vani Bhojan in the lead. Helmed by debut director Ashwath Marimuthu, the film was jointly bankrolled by G Dilli Babu under his Axess Film Factory banner and Abinaya Selvam and Ashok Selvan under the Happy High Pictures banner. It premieres on August 14th, Friday at 7 pm.

The film was widely appreciated by critics and audiences alike and emerged the highest grosser out of all films that hit screens on Valentine’s Day 2020. The film is about the relationship of a young married couple, Arjun and Anu, who have been best friends since childhood. However, they are unable to find that romantic spark in their relationship, and end up filing for divorce. The divine intervention in Arjun’s life, which gives him a second chance, is what forms the rest of the story.

Apart from the lead trio, the romantic fantasy drama also stars Gautham Vasudev Menon, Vijay SethupathiRamesh Thilak, Sha Ra as Mani, MS BhaskarGajaraj, and others.. Oh My Kadavule has a soundtrack by Leon James, Vidhu Ayyanna handling the camera, Ramalingam on art, and Boopathi Selvaraj on the editing table. Dinesh Manoharan has handled costumes and Ramkumar has choreographed stunts.

The IIFFT board has also announced the agenda for the festival set to happen between Aug 9-15, 2020. Apart from the screening of films, virtual interviews have also been planned with a few of the teams. Jaaved Jaaferi, Nikhil Prakash, Pooja Batra, and Raj Krishna for Padmavyuha, Nani, Shraddha Srinath, and Gowtham Tinnanuri for Jersey, and director Lokesh Kanagaraj for Kaithi will be interviewed by Bollywood Hungama’s entertainment journalist Faridoon Shahryar.

The board has also added that the films are free and will screen only at the exclusive screening times mentioned in the program schedule. For most of the films, viewers would have to RSVP in advance by emailing the designated email id for the festival.
