Roy Kapur Films confirmed the same on Twitter.

According to the report, the series will be an international co-production between Wiip and Roy Kapur Films. It will be produced across India, UK, and the USA. Both the production houses will assemble a diverse international team of writers to create the series, the report added.

Talking to Variety, Roy Kapur said, “We are delighted to be working with Paul, Mark and their team at Wiip to bring to life this fascinating book and to create what we envision to be the definitive story of the colonization of the Indian sub-continent.”  Roy Kapur Films acquired the rights of the book in June, the report said.

The executive producers of the project include Wiip’s Paul Lee and Mark Roybal, Roy Kapur Films’ Siddharth Roy Kapur, and XPat Productions’ Naz Haider and Siva Natarajan.

“The Wiip team and I are humbled — and to be honest, slightly terrified — that Mr. Dalrymple has entrusted us with his epic masterpiece. There couldn’t be a more opportune moment for adapting ‘The Anarchy’ into a television event,” Roybal told Variety.

Set between 1599 and 1802, The Anarchy revolves around the rise of the East India Company against the fall of the Mughal Empire in India. The novel was listed by former US President Barack Obama as one of his top 10 recommended books of 2019.
