Maddock Films, which co-produced the Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer horror-comedy Stree, along with D2R Films, confirmed on Thursday that they had “amicably resolved the differences” that had arisen after the producers were embroiled in a financial dispute regarding the film’s profit sharing.

“We, Maddock Films Pvt Ltd (and its promoter Mr. Dinesh Vijan) & D2R Films LLP (and its partners Raj Nidimoru & Krishna DK) are pleased to confirm that we have amicably resolved our differences with regard to our film Stree which released in August 2018,” the statement released by Maddock Films said.

All the copyright and intellectual property rights of the film, including the derivative rights, will be solely owned by Maddock Films, the statement added.

Earlier, Silverscreen India had reported that a source close to D2R films had confirmed that Vijan was ready to share only Rs 5 crore with Nidimoru and DK.

“Raj & DK were already underway with the production when Dinesh contacted them and convinced them to let him be part of the project. Not only did they oversee the shoot throughout the schedules in Chanderi and Bhopal, but were also leading every single process from casting, finding crew, shooting, editing, music, mixing, and the final cut,” the source close to the production house had told Silverscreen India.

A report in The New Indian Express said that the tussle between the producers began when Vijan did not accept to split the profit that came up to Rs 40 crore with Nidimoru and DK, despite the equal profit-sharing partnership deal that existed among the producers.

Stree was co-produced by Dinesh Vijan under the Maddock Films Pvt Ltd banner, and by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK under the D2R Films banner. It was helmed by debutant director Amar Kaushik and released in August 2018. The film was one of the biggest hits of that year and had grossed over Rs 100 crore.
