Actor Arya Banerjee was found dead in her apartment in Kolkata on Friday. She was 35.
According to a report by The Indian Express, her domestic help had informed the neighbours after the actor did not respond to calls. Her neighbours also tried to call her several times before they reached out to the police.
The police broke into the apartment and found her lying in the bedroom. She was bleeding from the nose and had vomitted but there were no other injuries. She was rushed to the hospital where she was declared dead upon arrival.
Samples were collected from her bedroom by a forensic team.
The postmortem report has ruled out homicide. Quoting IANS, a report in The Times of India stated that the actor was suffering from cirrhosis of liver. “It was not a case of homicide. Alcohol was found in her stomach at the time of her death,” said Kolkata Police Joint Commissioner (crime) Muralidhar Sharma.

She had acted in films such as Milan Lutharia’s The Dirty Picture (2011) and Dibakar Banerjee’s film LSD: Love, Sex Aur Dhokha (2010). “We are trying to find out who would visit the house for any work. Her call details are being scanned to see if she was in any distress and if she had received any food from outside in the last 24 hours,” the police said to The Telegraph.
