One, the recently-released Malayalam film starring Mammootty, will premiere on Netflix on Tuesday, the film’s director Santhosh Viswanath told Silverscreen India on Monday.
Written by Kerala State Award-winning screenwriter duo Bobby and Sanjay, the political thriller released in theatres on March 26.
The film’s star cast includes Murali Gopy, Joju George, Siddique, Mathew Thomas, Ishaani Krishna, Gayatri Arun and Nimisha Sajayan in prominent roles.

Speaking to Silverscreen India, Santhosh said, “Though the digital premiere was decided earlier, we were awaiting confirmation on release date from the streaming platform. I believe releasing the film on the OTT platform will reach a wider audience.”
Talking about the film’s OTT release, Santhosh said that the film’s OTT release agreement was signed in 2020. “As per the agreement, the film is eligible to release on the OTT platform after completing 30 days of theatrical screening,” he said.

One, which delves into political ideologies, had released 10 days before the legislative Assembly poll was conducted in Kerala.

“We had planned to release this film in May 2020. But due to the Covid-19 induced lockdown, we had to postpone the release. The reschedule date happened to be a few days before the elections and I feel it was the right time to release the film. Though the situation seemed better during the release, the wake of the second wave of Covid-19 was unexpected. However, the film fared well,” Santhosh said.
One marks the director’s second feature film after Chirakondinja Kinavukal (2015), the Malayalam film starring Kunchako Boban and Rima Kallingal in lead roles.
One’s technical crew consists of Gopi Sundar as the music composer, Vaidy Somasundaram as cinematographer and Nishan Yusuf as the editor. The film was produced under the banner of Ichais Productions.
