Actor Deepika Padukone tested positive for Covid-19, the International Indian Film Academy Awards informed in a Twitter post on Tuesday.
Reports were doing the rounds that the Padmaavat actor, who is currently in her hometown Bengaluru with her family, tested positive after her family contracted the disease a few days ago.
On Tuesday, celebrity photographer Viral Bhayani wrote on Instagram that veteran badminton player and the actor’s father Prakash Padukone was hospitalised after testing positive for Covid-19. He wrote that her mother Ujjala Padukone and her sister Anisha Padukone had tested positive as well.
The Times of India had earlier reported that Padukone along with her husband Ranveer Singh had been spending time with her parents in Bengaluru. According to the report, Vimal Kumar, a friend of the family, told PTI, “Around 10 days back, Prakash [Padukone], his wife and second daughter, they developed symptoms and got themselves tested and the results came out to be positive. He [Prakash Padukone] is okay now. All his parameters are fine, his wife and daughter are at home and he too will be hopefully discharged in two to three days.”
