Applications Invited for Kerala State Film Awards 2020

The Kerala State Chalachitra Academy (KSCA) has invited applications for the State Awards for Film and Writing On Cinema, 2020.  According to the State Film Awards’ regulation, entries of Malayalam feature films censored during the calendar year 2020 are invited to apply for the State Film Awards under various categories.

Books on cinema and articles on cinema published in Malayalam periodicals during the calendar year 2020 are also invited for the Award for Writing on Cinema.

Application in the prescribed form along with the film/book/article and other relevant materials should reach the Secretary, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy on or before 5 pm on August 16, 2021.

Application forms can be downloaded from www.Keralafilm.com or one can send a self-addressed envelope with Rs 25 worth stamp to the Secretary, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, to obtain the application form via post.  The forms can also be directly procured from the Thiruvananthapuram office.

The 2020 awards will mark the 51st edition of the State Film Awards of Kerala.

Among the 34 categories, a special award in any category for women/transgender is the new addition for this year.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the announcement of the 50th Kerala State Film Awards 2019 was delayed till October 2020. The winners of the awards included Suraj Venjaramoodu (Best Actor), Kani Kusruti (Best Actress), Lijo Jose Pellissery (Best Director), Fahadh Faasil and Swasika Vijay (Best Supporting Actors) and Vasanthi (Best Film). As many as 119 films competed under 33 categories for the 2019 state award.  The award presentation ceremony was held in January 2021 at Tagore Hall in Thiruvananthapuram with a limited number of guests.
