“We are simultaneously shooting in both languages,” he added, revealing that the first schedule has been completed in Peermade in Kerala. “We started to shoot about 20 days back, as soon as the government gave permissions to film in Kerala. Our next schedule will commence by the end of September.”

The first look poster of the film was released on August 7 by the actor, who only called it his next Malayalam film.

The Feast is a big-budget film backed by Gireesh Neyyar and Badusha NM.

According to the director, it is a family action thriller. “It is a multiple-murder mystery, and Arjun sir plays the central character. He is not a cop, but more like a native man and is a positive character. There’s suspense surrounding his character in the second half. There are some horror elements in the film as well, and it follows a non-linear screenplay. As the title hints, the climax culminates in a feast.”

Besides Arjun, the film stars actors Nikki Galrani, Asha Sharath, Gireesg Neyyar, Baiju Santhosh, Mukesh, and Aju Varghese. “Hareesh Peradi is essaying the central negative character,” Kannan added.

The Feast is Kannan’s 10th directorial. The filmmaker made his debut with the Tamil film Sooraiyadal in 2014.

The film’s story is written by Dinesh Pallath, a frequent collaborator of Kannan’s. The duo has worked together on most of Kannan’s films, including the Jayaram-starrers Thinkal Muthal Velli Vare (2015), Aadupuliyattam (2016), and Pattabhiraman (2019). “The Feast is our seventh collaboration. We were planning to do this film for about a year and during the lockdown in 2020, we collaborated on it,” the filmmaker said.

On the film’s shooting, Kannan added, “Since the majority of the story is set in a high-range, hill-station backdrop, we will be filming primarily in Kerala for both the Tamil and Malayalam versions, since the location can pass for Ooty as well. However, we will shoot the beginning portions of the film in Kochi and Chennai for about 3-4 days.”

The filmmaker revealed that the plan is to release the film in theatres. “We are looking to finish the first copy by December. As of now, we are thinking of releasing in both languages simultaneously, but we need to see the situation then.”
