The trailer of Nootokka Jillala Andagadu, the upcoming Telugu film starring actor-screenwriter Avasarala Srinivas, was released by actor Varun Tej Konidela on social media on Wednesday.
The film is set to hit theatres on September 3.
Produced by Shirish, Rajeev Reddy Yeduguru, and Sai Babu Jagarlamudia, it is directed by debutant filmmaker Rachakonda Vidyasagar.
In conversation with Silverscreen India, Vidyasagar said about the film, “It is the story of a bald man who is in his 30s, and follows his journey of self-discovery. It’s the story of many people in India, and the most beautiful thing about our film is that there is no body shaming. There is not one bad line, only clean and healthy comedy.”

The filmmaker added that Nootokka Jillala Andagadu also has romance and drama elements. “However, while love is one aspect of the film, it is through the relationships he has with society around him that he conquers his fears and weaknesses.”
Vidyasagar also clarified that the film is nothing like the 2019 Hindi film Bala, which is also about a bald man.
Apart from playing the lead role, Srinivas has also written the script, screenplay and dialogues of the film. Speaking about the collaboration, Vidyasagar said, “We have been friends since 2008 when he debuted as an actor in Ashta Chamma (which also marked the debut of actor Nani). Since the director of the film, Mohan Krishna Indraganti, was a close friend and collegemate of mine, I used to hangout on the sets of Ashta Chamma. In 2018, Srinivas pitched the story to the producers and he introduced me. That is how it all started.”
Besides Srinivas, the film also features Ruhani Sharma as the female lead and Tamil actor Rohini as the protagonist’s mother.
The filmmaker revealed that the title is derived from a popular Telugu film dialogue, uttered by late actor Nutan Prasad. “It means the most handsome man in the 101 districts. They used to say that when Andhra Pradesh was under Madras Presidency and there were 101 districts. It is also a colloquial phrase used to call someone a handsome guy.”
“The lead character is lonely and does not believe that anything good will happen to him. The music and the cinematography are the primary means we have used to depict his loneliness,” said Vidyasagar, adding that there are five songs in the film. The music is composed by Chennai native Shakthikanth Karthick.
Nootokka Jillala Andagadu went on floors on October 2019 and wrapped up in September 2020. It was shot completely in Hyderabad by cinematographer Ram.
The film has been certified ‘U’, and the debutant filmmaker is thrilled about its theatrical release. “It will be amazing to see my name appear on the big screen. It will be a dream come true. The producers decided to release it in theatres because they were impressed by the clear humour and the relatable content.”
Vidyasagar added that Nootokka Jillala Andagadu will be released on an OTT platform after its theatrical run.
