Piers Morgan, former host of the show Good Morning Britain, has signed a global deal with News Corp and Fox News Media, Fox announced on Thursday.
As a part of the deal, Morgan will feature in a new TV show to be launched in early 2022 and he will also publish weekly columns in the British tabloid The Sun and the American publication New York Post.
Apart from this, Morgan has also been signed with Harper Collins UK for a new book.
Morgan’s new show will be produced and filmed at News UK’s studios in London Bridge. It will air on talkTV, a new channel that is set to be launched in the UK in early 2022. It will also be broadcast on FOX Nation for US audiences, and on Sky News Australia.
Morgan began his career in media with News Corp, 30 years ago.
In a statement, he said he was thrilled to be returning to the media company. “I want my global show to be a fearless forum for lively debate and agenda-setting interviews, and a place that celebrates the right of everyone to have an opinion, and for those opinions to be vigorously examined and challenged,” he added.
Morgan was embroiled in controversy earlier this year after he questioned the veracity of actor Meghan Markle’s claims about the UK royal family in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
On his Good Morning Britain show on ITV, he had said, “I don’t believe a word she says, Meghan Markle. I wouldn’t believe it if she read me a weather report. And the fact that she fired up this onslaught against our royal family, I think, is contemptible.”

His comments caused an uproar, with even his co-host on the show, Alex Beresford, calling him out. Morgan stormed off the sets and resigned shortly thereafter. He was later called out by several celebrities and public figures post his exit from the channel.
However, UK media regulatory board Ofcom recently announced that its investigation had found that the content of the show was not in breach of its broadcasting rules despite receiving over 50,000 complaints.
While acknowledging that Morgan’s comments were potentially harmful and offensive to viewers, the regulatory body said that it made the “finely-balanced decision” taking into account his freedom of expression.
Despite Morgan getting a clean chit from Ofcom, ITV reportedly has no plans to reinstate him as the host of Good Morning Britain.
