Akash Vaani, the upcoming web series starring actors Kavin and Reba Monica John in the lead roles, has been wrapped up, the latter announced on social media on Friday.
Produced by Kaustubha Mediaworks, the series is written and directed by filmmaker Enoc Able, who has previously assisted director Atlee on films such as Raja Rani, Theri, and Mersal.
Speaking about the upcoming series, a source close to the production unit, on condition of anonymity, said to Silverscreen India, “It is a romantic comedy which is related to friendship as well, and it is set against the backdrop of Chennai. The show will also be a treat musically, as music plays a crucial role. Guna Balasubramaniam has composed the music for the show. There will be about eight episodes, but the duration of each episode is not finalised yet.”
“The director began working on the script only about five months back. It was conceptualised as a series and planned for Kavin and Reba from the start. Most of the cast and crew members are close associates of the filmmaker,” the source added.
Other cast members include Sharath Ravi and Deepak Parmesh, who have both featured in Jagame Thandhiram, as well as Vinsa, Abitha Venkataraman, and Melvin Johnson in prominent roles.
The series, with cinematography by Santhakumar Chakravarthy, went on floors in August.

The upcoming project is currently in the post-production stage. “The makers have planned only this one season for now,” said the source, adding that the series will be released around November on a known streaming platform.
Akash Vaani is the debut web series for Kavin, who recently made his OTT debut with the Tamil horror film Lift that was released on Disney+ Hotstar. However, he has previously acted in Tamil television serials and appeared in the reality TV show Bigg Boss Tamil 3.
