Manogari, the upcoming Tamil film starring Sai Dhanshika, is a suspense action thriller which will feature the actor in a dual role, director Nawaz Ahmed tells Silverscreen India.
The film marks the directorial debut of Nawaz and it is backed by Maheshwaran Nandagopal, under the Surya Film Productions banner. The project went on floors on February 4, following an inaugural ceremony.
“Manogari is a female-centric film, but there will also be a male protagonist, whom we will reveal soon,” says the director.
“The film’s core is about how a righteous person struggles to live the way they want to. When a traumatised woman approaches another woman for help, in some circumstances, even the latter gets affected by it. The crux of the story is about how they overcome this. In one role, Dhanshika will appear as a grounded girl, while the other role will that of be a dominant, action-oriented character. However, both roles will portray different ideas of strength and the film will have elements of emotions and action,” he adds.
Besides direction, Nawaz has also written the story, screenplay, and dialogues. He penned the script in 2019 and says he opted to make the lead actor play a dual role, instead of using different actors, in order to make the screenplay more intriguing.
