The actor has been booked under Section 188 (disobedience to the order duly promulgated by the public servant) of the Indian Penal Code by the Moga city police.

Sood is reportedly in South Africa at present, shooting for a reality television show.

Ahead of the Punjab Assembly Polls, Sood’s sister, Malvika Sood Sachar, joined the Indian National Congress party in January. She was contesting in the elections from the Moga constituency.

At the time, the actor had stated that he would not be campaigning for his sister and added that he himself had no intention of joining politics.

Earlier this week, on the poll day, the Punjab police seized Sood’s car based on reports of “suspicious activity” being carried out at a polling booth in Moga.

The actor, however, told ANI that he had discovered that bribes were being distributed by the opposition party Akali Dal at the booths and got to know about threat calls at various poll booths, and had stepped out to “check and ensure fair elections.”

He further denounced the confiscation of his vehicle and said that it was only a parking issue. “The Shiromani Akali Dal candidate, Barjinder Singh, alias Makhan Brar, has lodged a false complaint against me. It was only a parking issue. The vehicle was not parked correctly. There was nothing else,” Sood had told Hindustan Times.

After impounding his car, the police reportedly asked Sood not to step out of his house, and the actor was put under video surveillance.

Following this, an FIR has now been filed against Sood.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Sood will next be seen in Prithviraj, alongside Akshay Kumar and debutante Manushi Chhillar.
