Ajith Kumar’s 62nd Film to be Directed by Vignesh Shivan, Anirudh Ravichander to Score Music

Tamil actor Ajith Kumar, who was last seen as a cop in action-drama Valimai, will be collaborating with filmmaker Vignesh Shivan for a Tamil film, tentatively titled AK 62, the makers made the announcement through a statement on social media on Friday.

This will mark the maiden collaboration of the actor-filmmaker duo. However, previously, Vignesh had written the lyrics of two songs from Valimai- Mother Song, and Naanga Vera Maari.

Ajith’s 62nd film will be backed by Subaskaran of Lyca Productions banner, which will be releasing RRR (in Tamil) and producing upcoming historical drama Ponniyin Selvan of Mani Ratnam and Indian 2.

The announcement also included details regarding the music for AK 62. The film will see songs scored by Anirudh Ravichander, a frequent collaborator with the filmmaker. They have worked together perviously on Vedalam (2015) and Vivegam (2017). AK 62 will be headed by GKM Tamil Kumaran.

According to the statement released by Lyca Productions, the shooting of the film will commence by the end of this year and be released by mid-2023. “The other cast and crew details will be announced soon,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, before AK 62, Ajith will be once again pairing up with director H Vinoth for a film, tentatively titled AK 61. Previously, Vinoth has directed Ajith in Valimai and Nerkonda Paarvai, the Tamil remake of hit Hindi film Pink. The films were produced by Boney Kapoor. He will be backing AK 61 as well.

On the other hand, Vignesh Shivan is awaiting the release of the romantic drama Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal starring actors Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The film is set to hit the big screens on April 28.
