While 2022 has proved to be a successful year for Tamil and Telugu cinema, only films like The Kashmir Files and Gangubai Kathiawadi have managed to keep the Hindi industry afloat. Apart from these, most Hindi films released this year have struggled to make a mark at the box office.
However, the month of May might bring a change in the fortune of the Hindi film industry despite the lack of the customary Salman Khan release this Eid. Films such as Jayeshbhai Jordaar and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 are lined up and expected to do well. Although Ranveer Singh’s last release ’83 did not do well, anticipations are still high for his upcoming film. Similarly, trade experts also expect crowds to turn up in good numbers for the sequel to the hit Akshay Kumar film Bhool Bhulaiyaa.
On that note, Silverscreen India has compiled a list of all the Hindi films releasing in theatres this May.
Rocket Gang – May 6
Choreographer Bosco Martis’ feature directorial debut Rocket Gang will hit the cinemas on May 6. The film features Aditya Seal, known for Student of the Year 2, and Nikita Dutta, as well as former participants and winners of Zee TV’s popular show Dance India Dance.
Jayeshbhai Jordaar – May 13
Written and directed by Divyang Thakkar, this film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role as the son of a traditional Gujarati sarpanch. The film also stars Shalini Pandey while Boman Irani and Ratna Pathak Shah play supporting roles. It is produced by Aditya Chopra and Maneesh Sharma under the Yash Raj Films banner.
Dhaakad – May 20

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 – May 20
Competing with Ranaut’s film on May 20 will be Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
