Ajith – Gautham Menon Movie Titled Yennai Arindhaal

Ajith’s movie with director Gautham Vasudev Menon has been titled Yennai Arindhaal.  This continues Gautham Menon’s tendency to name his movies after old Tamil songs, after Pachaikili Muthucharam, Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya and Nee Thaane En Pon Vasantham. Yennai Arindhaal’s likely inspiration is the Unnai Arindhal song from MGR’s Vettaikaran.

Produced by Sri Sairam Creations, the film features Trisha, Anushka, Arun Vijay, and debutante Parvathy Nair.  While Harris Jayaraj composes music, Dan Macarthur handles cinematography.

In an interview with The Hindu, Gautham explained that the movie follows the life of a man from the age of 12 to 38. Made in a budget of Rs 50 crores, Yennai Arindhaal will be a mix of action and romance. Gautham revealed that he intends to make Yennai Arindhaal a franchise.

The director had earlier toyed with the idea of making franchises when he began the spadework for Thuppariyum Anandhan and Dhruva Natchathiram with Suriya, and Yohan Adhyayam Ondru with Vijay. However all the films were shelved.
