All sorts of good things came our way last week. Pongal, for instance. Aside from gooey sakkara pongal and crisp vadais, the festival also gave us three films – all very different from each other. Shankar’s I proved to be a Shankar Extreme, GV Prakash Kumar’s Darling was nothing out of the ordinary, and we realised that the star-studded Aambala was just a well-dressed version of a typical eighties flick.
And, in keeping with the week’s sweet theme, we spoke to Amyra Dastur, who reminded us all of a Powerpuff girl come to life.
On a bitter note, we also learnt that our beloved Sathyam butter popcorn might be in
danger. News broke of PVR’s alleged buyout of the city’s popular Sathyam Cinemas. Everybody moaned about it on Twitter and other social media sites. But, we didn’t give in to the pain and instead made a feature about the whole thing (because, when something threatens awesome popcorn, you write about it).
Darling heroine Nikki Galrani modelled her red outfit for us in all sorts of interesting poses; Arun Vijay flaunted his Yennai Arindhaal look (shaggy hair and six packs); and Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi taught everyone a very important style lesson – simple is always in.
