The plagiarism controversy surrounding Papanasam director Jeethu Joseph has come to an end now. A writer from Kerala, Sateesh Paul, had claimed that the plot of Drishyam and the remakes that followed were plagiarised from his novel – Oru Mazhakkalath. Following his petition, a temporary ban was placed on the shooting of the Tamil version. After legal intervention from the producers of Papanasam, the Kamal Haasan – Gauthami film was allowed to finish shoot and is currently in post-production. The latest is that a court in Ernakulam has dismissed the petition of Sateesh Paul, in what is a victory for director Jeethu Joseph. The court’s decision paves way for the film’s release this summer.
Papanasam also stars Anant Mahadevan, Nivedha Thomas and Kalabhavan Mani. Produced by Suresh Balajie, George Pius of Wide Angle Creations and Rajkumar Sethupathi of Raj Kumar Theatres Pvt Ltd, Papanasam has music by Ghibran.
