As the buzz about Rajinikanth’s next project grows stronger on social media, the latest information is that director Pa Ranjith has held discussions with the superstar. The spokesperson for Rajinikanth, in conversation with Silverscreen maintained that while ‘talks have been going on for sometime’, there has been no final decision made ‘as yet’.
Director Ranjith too refused to comment on the issue and instead said, “I approached Rajini sir with an idea for a new film. Initial discussions happened, yes. But, the result is unknown even to me.”
Actor Dinesh, who took on the lead role in Pa Ranjith’s debut effort Attakathi, added fuel to the fire, when he seemingly confirmed the project on his official Facebook account. He wrote, “Blessings of God.. #Ranjith sir doing Movie with #Rajini sir.. Its Confirmed Kalakkunga Sir #AttaKathi #Madras.”
The project is said to be produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu. A source close to the production house told us that an official announcement will be made soon.
Ranjith’s Madras released last year and received critical acclaim and was also a hit with the masses; while Rajinikanth’s Lingaa fared poorly in comparison. It must be noted that ever since the release of Lingaa, news of Rajnikanth’s next film have been making the rounds. AR Murugadoss was said to be in the running along with director Shankar. But both these reports proved to be false.
