Directed by Adhik Ravichandran, Trisha Illana Nayanthara’s trailer was launched today at Sathyam Multiplex. Featuring music director-turned-actor GV Prakash, Anandhi and Manisha Yadav in lead roles, this film is set to be a comedy thriller. The event was attended by director AR Murugadoss, director Vijay, Kalaipuli S Thanu, Muthaiah and Parthiban, as well as the remaining cast of crew of Trisha Illana Nayanthara.
The audio track for the film had been launched on June 4th to a lukewarm response. The first look teaser had made an impact with the younger generation, especially with the line: “Virgin pasanga saabam unna summa vidadhu de.”
The event began with a screening of three songs and the theatrical trailer. GV Prakash showed progress with his “decent” dancing skills, while his acting appears to have improved in leaps and bounds from his first film, Darling. The actor surprised the audience with some extempore dance steps in the song ‘Bit-u Padam Di’. The trailer had a distinct B-grade atmosphere, and seemed to dwell on the inner tribulations of ‘those who suffer from love-failure’. Manisha Yadav’s presence seemed restricted to “intimate” scenes, that too in sexually suggestive clothing.
Producer CJ Jayakumar further surprised audiences by stating that Trisha Illana Nayanthara is a “Kedukatta Kevalamana love story”. He added that he hoped to impress his target audience of young persons with this film.
Almost every celebrity who attended the trailer launch commented on director Adhik’s “terrorizing” character and the script. Apparently, it was the director’s idea to start a rumour suggesting that GV Prakash took “36 takes for the lip-lock scene with Manisha Yadav”. GV Prakash protested that this hadn’t been the case. However, apparently Adhik was unsatisfied with the reception the rumour had received. According to GV Prakash, “It lacked punch, it seems.”
Actor-director Parthiban, who was one of the special guests, had some wit to spare as well. He called GV Prakash “an item” for having enjoyed on-screen time with two heroines and having so many “hidden talents”. He predicted that the film would be a massive hit among audiences.
Director Vijay, who shares a great rapport with GV Prakash, stated that the latter always has a vision for himself, and he consistently outshines this vision. “He is more than a brother to me, and we are the best partners-in-crime. After becoming an actor, GV is even more efficient. Despite his busy schedule, he always meets deadlines,” he said appreciatively.
The whole theatre burst into laughter when actor VTV Ganesh said ‘Vanakkam’. People cheered the actor and seemed visibly eager to listen to his ‘remarkable voice’. Trisha Illana Nayanthara is VTV Ganesh’s second movie with GV Prakash, and the former was full of praise for the actor’s work. He also lauded actresses Anandhi and Manisha Yadav’s performance in their respective mother tongues.
GV Prakash was in his chocolate boy looks unlike his bearded look in the movie. He said, ” I know Adhik for 2 years and he pressurised me to act in this role. I must say he succeeded. Trisha Illana Nayanthara will be a festival that youngsters would enjoy.”
Director AR Murugadoss, who was the special guest for the event, said he had wanted to cast GV Prakash in one of his production ventures, but it hadn’t worked out. He said, “I feel GV would do a film under my banner even if his stature grows day-by-day.” AR Murugadoss, who is busy directing the Hindi film Akira, complimented the entire team and added that he was impressed with the dialogues. He also complimented the technical team and cast for the visuals.
Actress Anandhi said that her role in this film was bold, unlike the sensitive role she essayed in Kayal. Manisha Yadav praised the team and said the trailer was just 1% of the entertainment the movie was guaranteed to provide.
All the journalists present had one basic question for director Adhik Ravichandran, namely, “Why did you make GV Prakash do this role when he is known for his innocent and sweet nature?” Adhik jokingly replied that GV Prakash’s original character is what comes across on screen. Also, it seems Adhik and his father Ravichandran (who has worked as an assistant director for years), couldn’t attend an audio launch years back because there wasn’t enough place. That is when Adhik decided that if he became a director, his audio launch would happen at Sathyam Cinemas.
The trailer of the movie was released by AR Murugadoss and received by Ravichandran, amidst party poppers and confetti.
