A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed against actor Prakash Raj for appearing in a jewellery advertisement that allegedly ‘degrades and demeans’ the image of girls of marriageable age. The petition was filed by S Safiath who, in her petition, sought the help of Madras High Court to direct the police to take down the hoardings related to the advertisement, and to take action against Prakash Raj.
Prakash Raj, after the controversy broke out, decided to clear the air by tweeting this:
#kfj gold ad.With due respect to the concerns of all who have taken offence. I would like to state that it was not the intention.(cont)

It is aimed at the mindset of people who think girl child is “tension”. The ad clearly states it is the rate of gold u gift ..not the girl.
