Shooting of director Bala’s upcoming film Tharai Thappattai wrapped up yesterday in Tanjore. Actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, who plays the female lead in the movie, remarked that her journey with the Tharai Thappattai team began and ended at the same place – in Tanjore. She added that working on movie had been an unforgettable experience.

Shooting for Tharai Thappattai had earlier been halted after lead actor Sasikumar fractured his hand during a stunt sequence. The movie has been extensively shot in Tanjore, Karaikudi, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Tharai Thappattai has an ensemble supporting cast with Sathish Kaushik, Amudhavanan, Pragathi of ‘Super Singer’ fame, Kaavya Sha, Suresh, and Anandhi. Reportedly, music director Ilaiyaraaja has scored 12 songs for the film. Tharai Thappattai focuses on the Karagattam dance form, and is Ilaiyaraaja’s 1000th movie.
