Actor Siddharth did not approve of journalist T S Sudhir’s tweet on Badminton Player PV Sindhu. The reporter wrote an article titled ‘Rio Olympics 2016: PV Sindhu’s success stems from efforts of Gopichand and her father’and posted a link to it on his account:
The two men behind @Pvsindhu1 ‘s success story. Coach #PullelaGopichand and Dad #PVRamana and the two families. https://t.co/z1KNzNkaYQ
— T S Sudhir (@Iamtssudhir) August 19, 2016
Actor Siddharth took offence at the tweet and called it ‘sexist’.
@Iamtssudhir@Pvsindhu1 your tweet should be rightly certified as sexist. You can do better Sudhir.
— Siddharth (@Actor_Siddharth) August 19, 2016
Sudhir responded saying he doesn’t quite get the point and that he was merely identifying them by their relationship.
@Actor_Siddharth @Pvsindhu1 There is nothing sexist about it. If you read the story you would know.

@Actor_Siddharth @Pvsindhu1 They have been identified by their relationship with Sindhu. `Coach’ and `Dad’. I dont quite get the point.
— T S Sudhir (@Iamtssudhir) August 19, 2016
Not convinced with Sudhir’s reasoning, Siddharth stood by his statement.
@Iamtssudhir@Pvsindhu1 if you must make a gender identity, please refer to Sindhu as the woman behind their success story. Thanks.
— Siddharth (@Actor_Siddharth) August 19, 2016
He also revealed that he found the headline sexist, not the article.
@Iamtssudhir @Pvsindhu1 since you insist… Not the article. The tweet. The need to identify them as men in the headline.

In the article, writer T S Sudhir gives us an inside look at PV Sindhu’s journey to the Rio Olympics, called ‘Operation Rio’. The article brings out the relationship between coach Gopichand and PV Sindhu. PV Sindhu’s father, PV Ramana, an international volleyball player himself, was also drafted into ‘Operation Rio’. He took special eight months leave to give her mental-skills training.
PV Sindhu went on to become the first woman to win a Silver Olympic medal in Badminton yesterday.
