On Tuesday, Anurag Kashyap posted a screenshot of a WhatsApp chat with a female journalist on his Facebook page without blurring out the phone number and was criticised heavily for his carelessness.
On the 16 October, Kashyap made a series of tweets about the ban on Pakistani artists, and the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil issue. His comments on PM Modi and Pakistani artistes were being debated by many on social media. Kashyap ended his tweets saying the media should not try to contact him on the issue.
And media should stop trying to call me because you are wasting your time, because this all that I have to say and they were not drunk tweets

On Tuesday, IBN7 journalist Shivangi Thakur contacted Kashyap on his phone, asking for a response on the same.
But Kashyap said that he did not want to give an interview to the “headline-hungry” media. He then posted the WhatsApp conversation he had with Ms. Thakur with the caption: “This is the media outside my house when I’m not there… looking for a headline.”
He failed to blur Thakur’s phone number leading to her receiving many abusive calls. He deleted the post after a few minutes, but he has not apologised for his mistake.

In the recent past, Kashyap has been in the news – ironically – for his criticism for irresponsible newsmongering by media houses. In August last year, Kashyap faked an injury and posted about it on his Instagram page to make a point on how news agencies clamour to circulate information without bothering to fact-check.
