A film on Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is currently in the works. The project will be directed by Madhura Sreedhar.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, the director said, “It’s not a biopic as I am not going to cover any personal issues faced by KCR; I am focussing on the challenges he faced when he led the Telangana movement. It is a political drama.”
Madhura Sreedhar is a software engineer who turned film director with the film Sneha Geetham in 2010. He also owns the very popular Madhura Audio music label.
The director is currently working on the research needed for the film. Shooting of the film will begin in June 2, 2017 which happens to be Telengana formation day. The film will be released on February 17th, 2018, on the occasion of KCR’s birthday and will be produced by Raj Kandukuri.
Madhura Sreedhar and Kandukuri also collaborated for this year’s surprise hit Pellichoopulu.

Madhura Sreedhar said that his father, Tirupathi Reddy, who had participated in the Telengana movement in 1969, told him many stories about the movement. “Those stories inspired me to make a film. People say different things about KCR but in the end, he simply went ahead with his movement and reached the goal. Today, he has become a great leader and made the dream of four crore Telangana people come true,” said Sreedhar.
It is estimated that the film may cost nearly Rs 8 crore. Details on the cast and crew of the film are yet to be announced.
