Amala Paul, who played Dhanush’s love interest in Velaiyilla Pattathari, will reprise her role in the sequel to the film. The actress confirmed in an interview that she will be playing the lead in VIP 2. This will be her third film with Dhanush, and her fifth with the actor’s production house Wunderbar Studios.
In addition to her, actor/director Samuthirakani, who played the Dhanush’s father in the first film, has been retained for the sequel.
The film, directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth, will be produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under his banner V Creations. Music will be composed by both Anirudh Ravichandran and Sean Roldan. This film will mark Dhanush’s Telugu debut. Many of his films have have been dubbed and released in Telugu in the past to great success, as with the dubbed version of VIP, titled Raghuvaran B tech, which was a success in the Telugu-speaking states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
