According to a Mumbai Mirror report, both sons, Yogesh (57) and Kiran (45), have been eyeing the apartment since her death in 2004, claiming that personal sentiments were attached to the house. The brothers are now engaged in a dispute over Roy’s bedroom. The rest of the property, including the hall, kitchen, and the garden have already divided between the two. Now however, each wants exclusive rights to the bedroom.

The 3,000 square feet ground floor apartment also has a garden spread over 8,000 square feet. As per current property rates in Mumbai, it may be worth an estimated Rs 100 crore.

Earlier in 2015, Nirupa’s younger son Kiran had accused his elder brother of “threatening and intimidating” him to gain complete control of the house. He claimed that his mother and father Kamal Roy had made him (Kiran) the sole owner of the property in their will. He had subsequently filed a petition with a High Court demanding that his brother Yogesh be prohibited from entering the bedroom of the spacious house. The petition was eventually rejected at the time.

Meanwhile Roy’s elder son Yogesh’s application in the court says that the bedroom was reportedly given to him and not his brother Kiran. He also told the court that he has the keys to the bedroom with him so that his younger brother would not be able to misuse it.
