Filmmaker Karan Johar recently spoke about the experience of having had to shoot a “hostage type” of video before the release of Ae Dil Hain Mushkil.
A DNA report states the director as saying, “I felt spineless after apologising in ‘hostage video’ before Ae Dil Hai Mushkil‘s release.”

The movie, which was scheduled to release right after the Uri attacks, irked certain political outfits who wanted the Pakistani actors in the film – Fawad Khan and Imran Abbas – replaced. When the outfits threatened to boycott the film, Karan Johar made a video statement apologising for casting the actors. “When I shot the film, the climate was completely different. I understand the sentiment today because I feel the same way. Going forward, I’d like to say that, of course, I won’t engage talent from the neighboring country given the circumstances,” Johar said in the video.
