A sessions court in Mumbai has convicted Preeti Jain, a model and aspiring actor, for conspiring to kill director Madhur Bhandarkar along with two others. The court has also charged a fine of Rs 10, 000.
The court has also found two others as guilty and another two have been acquitted from the charges. She has sought bail and the court is expected to pass an order on it by Saturday.
Preeti Jain had accused the National Award winning director of rape and the Supreme Court had quashed the claim after she dropped the charges in 2012. She was then accused of hiring a gangster’s aide to kill the Fashion director in 2005.
Naresh Pardeshi and his aide Shivram Das have been sentenced to three years on charges of helping her.
The film-maker took to Twitter to share his views about the judgement.
