Tamannaah Says It’s Fair To Call Her A Newcomer In Bollywood

While Tamannaah Bhatia is regarded as one of the top actresses in Tamil and Telugu cinema, she feels it’s only fair that people still look at her as a newcomer in Bollywood. Having made her debut in Hindi cinema with Chand Sa Roshan Chehra in 2005, the actress ventured South later, and has nearly 40 films (Tamil and Telugu together) to her credit.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, she said, “I think it’s only fair that people know you by what they have last seen of you. If I have done more films down South, then the audience there will know me more. But in Bollywood, they have seen me doing a limited number of films, so for the audience here, I am new. As an actor you need to prove yourself over and over again to develop a certain kind of fan following and reputation. So I don’t mind the tag, rather it excites me thinking that people have actually noticed whatever little work I had done.”

Riding on the success of her latest film, SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali – The Conclusion, the actress has so far done only four films in Bollywood excluding the dubbed versions of her Tamil/Telugu films. After her debut in Hindi, she has since been a part of Himmatwala (2013), Entertainment and Humshakals in 2014. According to Bollywood Life, Tamannaah also has a film called Chor Nikal Ke Bhaaga with John Abraham in the lead, making it her first Hindi film this year.

Currently, Tamannaah has recently signed on for an untitled bilingual starring Prabhu Deva, in which she plays a deaf and mute character. She has Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan aka AAA with Silambarasan in the pipeline and Sketch with Vikram. She is also part of the Tamil remake of the Telugu film Pelli Choopulu, with Vishnu Vishal.
