Nikhil Advani, whose next home production is a thriller around stock markets called Bazaar, has clarified that the film is not inspired by Leonardo Di Caprio’s Oscar-nominated film The Wolf Of Wall Street. Speaking to PTI News, Nikhil said that one needn’t always go to the West for inspiration.
“Bazaar is about people who will always choose money over love and has a lot of research work behind it. Is it inspired by The Wolf of Wall Street? Absolutely not. Not at all. But I hope when you see the film you say we have matched up to that scale and achieved something brilliant,” he said.
The film, directed by Gaurav Chawla, is about the world of stock markets and trading, where actor Saif Ali Khan plays a street smart Gujarati businessman.
“He looks very suave on the poster but he is a Gujarati businessman in the film. It is about this businessman who crosses lines left to right and centre,” he added.

Nikhil shared that the film was narrated to a few businessmen in order to get approval for its authenticity. “They heard it and the only comment they made was, you are talking about Rs 200 and 300 crore, but we don’t talk in less than Rs 10,000 crore,” he said.

Bazaar has been in the pipeline for a while now as director Nikhil Advani has been working on the script. Further delays were caused after Ekta Kapoor backed out of production, due to creative differences with Nikhil Advani and over the film’s budget. The film also features Rohan Mehra, son of late actor Vinod Mehran, and Radhika Apte. Co-produced by Emmay Entertainment, Bazaar is slated for a December 2017 release.
Meanwhile, two of Saif Ali Khan’s films are also gearing up for release – Chef and Kaala Kaanti.
