Priyanka Chopra is this year’s recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Chopra has been awarded in the ‘International Actress’ section, reports said.
This is Chopra’s second Dadasaheb Phalke award. She won it last year for her role as Kashibai in Bajirao Mastani.

Ashok Shekhar, the chairman of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award committee, confirmed, “Yes, we have decided to introduce a fresh category in the awards list — Internationally Acclaimed Actress Award. There are no two ways about the fact that Priyanka Chopra is the only actress who truly deserves this award. She has consented for the same.”
“With her hard and sincere efforts, Priyanka has placed the Indian industry in the international forum so powerfully. It compelled the organisers to introduce this fresh category in the award,” Ashok added.
Interestingly, Priyanka’s mother, Madhu, will also receive a Phalke award. The Chopras produced Marathi film Ventilator, which has been chosen as the Best Film by the Phalke Award Committee this year.
