The first look poster of Velaikkaran was released yesterday. The Mohan Raja directorial has Sivakarthikeyan and Nayanthara in the lead roles. In the poster, a bruised and bloody Sivakarthikeyan stares straight ahead. Dressed in a formal shirt and pant, the actor holds a briefcase in one hand and an aruvaal in another.

Barely minutes after its release, keen-eyed social media regulars noticed the similarities between this poster and one of Michael Douglas’ Falling Down. Only, instead of an aruvaal, Douglas holds a machine gun.

In the Hollywood film, Douglas plays an unemployed divorcee raging against the injustices in the system. With the first few promotional posters of Velaikkaran suggesting that it might hold similar themes, it has led to speculations that the film itself might be an adaptation of the Hollywood one.
Meanwhile, the similarities didn’t really dampen the celebration of Sivakarthikeyan fans. The poster began to trend within minutes of its release, and also garnered ecstatic reviews from fans and friends of the actor.
