Rangoon:
Gautham Karthik is back with his second release this year after Muthuramalingam. Rangoon, helmed by Rajkumar Periasamy, revolves around the life of a family from Burma.
The director, in a brief chat with TOI, said that the movie, set in the backdrop of North Madras, is about the challenges faced by an youngster. The film, Periasamy added, is not entirely about the Burmese people in the city.
Vikram has composed music, while the background score is by Vishal Chandrasekhar.
Rangoon also stars Sana Makbul, Lallu, Siddique in prominent roles and is jointly produced by AR Murugadoss and Fox Star Studios.
Sathriyan:
Director SR Prabakaran’s third movie, the Vikram Prabhu starrer Sathriyan, is expected to be an action entertainer, with Manjima Mohan playing the female lead.
In an interview with TNIE, the director said: “Vikram Prabhu’s character as a rowdy will not be larger than life in this film. Shedding the image of a hero, Vikram has given his best shot and was at home in both the family scenes and the romantic segments. Nothing will feel out of place in this film which has been designed for the mass audience.”
The director is said to have edited an item number composed by music director Yuvan Shankar Raja from the movie. “There was room for an item number by Yuvan, but we made a conscious decision to stay away from packaging the film with such material,” Prabhakaran stated.
Sathriyan, bankrolled by Sathya Jyothi films, has cinematography by Sivakumar Vijayan. The movie also stars Kavin, Rio Raj, Aishwarya Dutta in pivotal roles.
Raabta:
Raabta will hit screens this Friday. The movie, which romanticises reincarnation, was accused of plagiarism by the the makers of the 2009 Telugu movie, Magadheera.
It stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon in lead roles, and is directed by Dinesh Vijan. Neerja fame actor, Jim Sarbh, plays the antagonist in the movie.
Raabta marks the directorial debut of Dinesh Vijan. The movie is jointly produced by Dinesh, Homi Adjania and Bhushan Kumar. Pritam has composed music and Martin Priess has cranked the camera.
Behen Hogi Teri:
National Award winning actor, Rajkummar Rao’s Behen Hogi Teri is his second release for the year after the much acclaimed Trapped. He will be seen opposite Shruti Haasan in this rom-com.
The movie is helmed by Ajay K Pannalal, and has been produced by Tony D’souza and Amul Vikas Mohan. It will also see actors like Gulshan Grover, Gautam Gulati and Kamlesh Gill in important roles.
Fun fact: Rajkummar will be seen playing a brief cameo in Raabta as well.
